The History of Simon G

When Simon G first emigrated to America in 1976, he didn?t have much money, but had a dream to become an engineer. While working to save up for college classes in New York, he found work in the diamond district with help from a relative. His first job was setting diamonds. Not long after, he developed a passion for the process, artistry, and designs of jewelry making. Instead of saving up for classes, Simon G invested their earnings in jewelry making materials. He then went door-to-door selling his designs and ended up in Southern California to set up base in Los Angeles. When registering his business at City Hall, the clerk informed him that his original name, Simon Ghanimian was too long, making him shorten his name to the now iconic Simon G.

The Simon G Process

Fine jewelry like engagement rings and wedding bands from Simon G start off with a sketch inspired by real life client testimonials. Simon G?s design team takes these ideas and boils them down to a single sketch and finalizes design and concept. After the sketch has been finalized, a CAD or wax model is developed with a focus on details, craftsmanship, and sculpting techniques. From there, it goes into casting where the team turns the prototype models into metals. Many pieces incorporate multiple types of metals to create diversity and versatility. A fine and skilled jeweler then takes this metal cast and handcrafts it to perfection. Finally, the diamond setter securely fastens with the signature Simon G four prongs instead of using glue like many in the industry. These prongs are specifically designed to protect the diamond from falling out.
